It's very hard to say actually. With the rise in HD and Blu-Ray laptops, and the rise in mobile technology. Though 3 years seems a bit too soon. I remember once when someone said that gaming consoles will be irrelevant in 5 years time. I disagree about that for sure. As for this one, I can't really agree or disagree, I've been using laptops for about 6 years now, and haven't touched a desktop computer since (except for when on holidays.) --- ![]() DigitalFlow Webmaster |

You have to think about computer gamers, audio technicians, 3d modeling, photographers who need absolute color accuracy, video editors, etc. Plus, those who want screens larger than 17 inches. |

well, think about the industry. say for example, pixar. how would you expect them to produce movies if modeling, lighting, editing, etc was to be done on laptops. that would be insane! i'm for sure they will still exist! maybe not as much in homes but definitely in the industry and at work places for sure.. unless Steve Jobs was to create an epic iMac which might become the next generation pc or whatever. --- Founder of DF Online Portfolio |

As for those who want a screen size larger than 17", that has nothing to do with it considering my laptop is a 19" widescreen. Not forgetting the fact that you can connect your laptop to your TV or another monitor (imaging being on a 50" TV, wow!) As for absolute colour accuracy, I've seen them starting to get into laptops as well now, and with those colour calibration things. It's good thing to think about, though as Kofi said, they would be used in the industry, but not as much as in homes. --- ![]() DigitalFlow Webmaster |

I'd love to see them try render farming with a bunch of notebooks. I'll admit notebook computers are getting more and more powerful each year but desktops still deliver performance over convenience. --- deviantART |
